FLEXO PRESS HELPER
The
Flexo Press Helper will be responsible for assisting the Press Operator in the operation and routine maintenance of our 10 colour flexographic printing press.
What you will do
- Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents and workplace hazards;
- Maintains, at all times, good housekeeping and cleanliness around machine, keeping floor free from debris and always swept up;
- Upon starting a new order the Press Helper must clear the machine of all material and ink from the last order
- Uses all safety equipment supplied at all times and especially during clean up and when handling doctor blades;
- Ensures that all materials (i.e. ink, cores, cylinders, material etc.) are near the Press when needed;
- Measures and maintains proper ink viscosity levels, fill each solvent container and attaches proper ink and solvent labels to the containers;
- Assists the Press Operator on daily functions of the equipment;
- Ensures that the material being used is the right width, gauge and mounted on the press the correct way;
- Informs Press Operator on the ink levels and flow of every ink pump being used;
- Checks the treated side, the coated side, sealing side and printing side of material from each roll before printing;
- Cleans all plates when print run is finished prior to being removed from press;
- Ensures that all cylinders or sleeves are available for the next press run;
- Maintains a constant check on all running conditions of the machine and the job being printed. Reports any issues to the Press Operator. The Helper is to watch the monitor screen for print defects at least three times (few minutes each) for every printed roll;
- Assist in troubleshooting minor machine problems when equipment is down or not performing to standard;
- Physical demands include lifting up to 40 pounds, walking/standing for long periods of time;
- Reports to working area at least 5 minutes before the start of his shift to communicate with the Helper of the previous shift as to any problems or running conditions that he should be aware of for a smooth transition;
- Performs all duties as outlined in the job description, plus any other duties that may be assigned by the Press Operator or Supervisor;
