    Reporting to the PICA Art Director, this position will work under general supervision to create or coordinate the creation of custom art images both digitally and by hand. This individual will use their knowledge of specialized design concepts, fine art background, and software tools to develop art images for various internal and external clients.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Versatility in painting styles being able to paint representationally as well as in gestural and abstract styles.
    • Fine Art expertise in paint handling techniques with a focus on acrylic and water colour.
    • Expert level in Photoshop and digital painting, being able to brush up artwork and execute custom color correction.
    • Create conceptual and artful interpretations based on Art Direction provided.
    • Meet with art department, sales and other internal team members along with designers to review project brief(s), discuss strategies and themes for art development.
    • May be required to source and create appropriate artwork and/or photography to develop packages for relevant client(s).
    • Review package feedback from all project stakeholders and make necessary edits and updates as required.
    • Ensure all submitted work complies with copyright standards.
    • Create and produce JPEGs, PDFs and other design elements as required.
    • Work towards development of expert level knowledge of relevant design tools and technologies.
    • Meets all quality, time and budget standards relevant on a project by project basis.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

    Skills/Qualifications:

    • At least 2 years of direct work experience as a Fine artist or working on a product development team in related design industries such as wallpaper, textile or home décor.
    • Post-secondary degree in Fine Arts, or related discipline is considered an asset.
    • RGD designation strongly preferred.
    • Proficient in the use of Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
    • Well versed in the latest graphic design methods, practices, techniques, and associated principles.
    • Solid design and conceptual skills.
    • Strong knowledge of printing/publishing procedures and standards.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback from superiors.
    • Effective deadline management and project management skills.
    • Ability to analyze and interpret user requirements.
