    Bus and Transportation Mechanic

    Location: Prince Rupert, BC

    PWTransit has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Bus and Transportation Mechanic in Prince Rupert. We offer work-life balance, personalized training, competitive wages and the opportunity to run your own shop.

    Working in accordance with OH&S Safety Regulations, Government Inspections Standards, and company rules, the Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring the utilization of shop facilities, equipment and maintenance programs are effective while also focusing on efficiency and safety of buses serviced.

    Wage Range: $ $49.90, based on qualifications

    Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Journeyperson Technician Certification (Heavy Duty, Commercial Transport, Automotive considered)
  • 2 – 5 years related experience desired
  • Valid Driver's License (Class 5 with air brake endorsement)
  • No more than 3 demerit points on driver's license
  • CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License desired
  • Exposure to working on diesel engines
  • Analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and understand parts and service manuals in English
  • Proficient with computer equipment
  • Health & Safety Knowledge – OH&S rules and regulations guidelines
  • Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow and comply with BC Transit policy and procedures
  • Diagnose, examine and investigate to determine causes of defective operation of vehicle components with the use of computer diagnostic equipment
  • Determine proper course of action to facilitate vehicle repair, maintenance, adjustment and component replacement
  • Maintain, adjust, and/or repair all bus systems, components, and parts to ensure the operational fitness of vehicles
  • Operate buses in order to diagnose component failure or move buses when required
  • Schedule and perform Government Inspections
  • Communicate and consult with all levels of employees
  • Perform procurement of parts and materials
  • Maintain accurate records of all service, repair, and other work
  • Diagnostic tests as needed
  • Follow and comply with all health, safety, environmental, and HR procedures
  • Attend company training programs as required
