Under the general direction of the Occupational Health Resource Nurse, the Behavioural Health Clerk is primarily responsible for administrative and office duties for the Contract Psychologist, Behavioural Health Resource Nurse, and Peer Support.


This position acts as a liaison and primary contact for Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service members/family members requesting any kind of assistance, support or wellness information.

A significant responsibility is the coordinating, planning, organizing and managing all events or ceremonies, as well as preparation/drafting of correspondence and meeting/appointment bookings.

Works independently as sole administrative support to professional staff.

This position requires the ability to prioritize, organize information and to make decisions on behalf of the unit without consult in certain situations.


As the
_Clerk B - Behavioural Health Unit,_
you will:

  • Acts as sole administrator to the Behavioural Health Resource Nurse, Contract Psychologist and Peer Support Coordinators; Manages all related office administrative duties for the branch. Operates as liaison for the Behavioural Health Resource Nurse, Contract Psychologist and Peer Support Coordinators.
  • Coordinates the WFPS Fitness Card Program and Gym Memberships.
  • Performs all units purchasing transactions; supply ordering and inventory.
  • Acknowledges and sends Condolence and Congratulations on behalf of the Chief of WFPS.
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the classification, as required.

Your education and qualifications include:


Education / Certification / Training:


  • High school (Grade 12) graduation or equivalent.

Experience:


  • One (1) year or more of experience working in an office/administrative environment within a progressively responsible position or an equivalent amount of related training, education and experience.
  • One (1) year or more of required previous customer service experience.
  • Experience working within a medical based service area with knowledge of associated legislation is considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access.
  • Proficiency in other data bases such as asset management and PeopleSoft as well as associated software (web browser, WFPS software and other workflow packages) is seen as an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain a positive, respectful, healthy work environment that supports the physical, psychological and social working relationships with members at all levels in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure with mínimal supervision, while carrying out various assignments demonstrating personal initiative.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to facilitate conveying information effectively, both verbally and written, to a variety of stakeholders promoting a collaborative environment.
  • Problem solving skills with the ability to analyze and execute sound judgment in determining level of decisionmaking intervention required for issues often of a highly confidential or sensitive nature.
  • Organizational skills, must be able to prioritize multiple tasks giving specific attention to details.
  • Ability to successfully complete additional training relevant to this position's duties within specified timeframes as identified by the Department

Conditions of employment:


  • The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Adult Abuse Registry Check (original copy) from the Government of Manitoba Adult Abuse Registry Unit (or provincial equivalent), satisfactory to the employer.
