As a results-oriented practitioner, a knowledge leader and a change agent, the PIC uses a variety of skills, knowledge, and abilities to engage stakeholders, communicate effectively and manage resources.

The PIC has advanced knowledge of micro, meso and macro healthcare systems, organizational culture and clinical processes to ensure patient safety and quality of care.

The PIC shares accountability with the primary operational stakeholder for successful improvement projects including defining goals, objectives, implementing measurable outcomes and sustaining gains.


The Process Improvement Consultant:

Works with considerable latitude and independence to bring a global leadership perspective to the project and in the development of strategies to manage the project.

Is required to conceptualize frameworks and concepts, develop work plans, and move projects through to completion.

Participates in committee meetings to provide guidance in the identification of key initiatives to target improvement in delivery of services within the department.

Ensures that projects are progressing within scope, on budget and on schedule. This position is non-unionized.

Required Qualifications:

Post-Secondary diploma in a health care, process improvement, business or related field. Process Improvement certification (Business Analysis, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.). Black belt certification. Minimum 3 years experience in healthcare environment.


Skills & Abilities:
Results driven achiever. Minimum 3 years hands-on experience using quality/process improvement methods and tools. Proven success in facilitating complex projects improvement projects exceptional qualitative/quantitative analysis skills Influencer. Ability to develop and communicate solutions/responses to diverse user problems/requests. Conflict resolution skills and experience. Effective relationship building across organizational levels Change leader. Success in managing change in a fast-paced, operational environment. Clear understanding of how to drive and manage successful organizational change. Confident presenter. Excellent written and verbal communication. Effective presenter to all levels across the organization. Driver's license is required for travel between sites within Edmonton and provincially. Registered with professional, provincial body for specific discipline.

Ability to respond in an innovative way to the complex, fast paced evolving nature of health care and human resources service delivery.

Ability to determine appropriate stakeholders and level of decision making and distribute information appropriately. Ability to promote teamwork, collaboration, and partnership. Must be extremely accurate and detail orientated and capable of managing multiple priorities while displaying a positive, professional demeanor. Strong ability to manage multiple complex calendars/schedules. Ability to coordinate and organize events and special projects. Ability to capture meeting deliberations concisely and accurately through minute taking. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and formatting, grammar, and spelling. Ability to complete duties with numerous interruptions. Acts in a calm, professional manner with tact at all times. High standard of ethics and confidentiality in handling of sensitive information. Ability to work independently with mínimal direction/supervision. Willingness to be flexible and provide support/assistance as required. Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in a health care or related field. PMP certification or equivalent. Change management certification or equivalent. Master Black Belt certification. 5 years experience using quality/process improvement methods and tools.
