Job Description:


Major Job Functions:

  • Develop and oversee a systematic approach to assetbased decisions, so that asset requirements, acquisition, and disposal match the business objectives. These include the creation of the Strategic Asset Management Policy, establishment of departmental policies and procedures, and the development of individual Asset Management Plans
  • Develop, implement, and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) regarding the creation and maintenance of operator preuse checklists, inspection documents, and scheduled maintenance activities
  • Develop Recurring jobs, showing sequence of steps, number of technicians and required manhours for each step. Develop a file of standard work orders (plans) for regularly recurring jobs within the CMMS, based on historical experience, to simplify the Maintenance Planner's workload
  • Provide knowledgeable input into the process of budgeting for the capital and operating costs over the entire life cycle of the asset
  • Develop and Manage the Performance measurement system to evaluate the effective utilization of assets
  • Perform preacquisition analysis, physical, logístical, and financial support for capital projects

Specific Skills:

  • Understanding of different characteristics and requirements for managing assets through the asset lifecycle delivery stages. Starting from asset acquisition, through to asset operations & maintenance, finalizing to asset disposal
  • Maintenance Engineering, including development of a Preventive Maintenance / Predictive Maintenance system, analysis of equipment history, and reengineering points of repetitive equipment failure
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills and possession of tact
  • Proven ability to juggle between administrative, technical, analytical, and tactical aspects of the role
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to see the bigger picture and tie the everyday activities with Finning's goals and objectives, and Operational Excellence
  • Proven technical knowledge to understand equipment specifications
  • Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings
  • Experience dealing with accounting groups and how it relates to asset management
  • Ability to adapt with ever changing business needs and look for continuous improvement ideas

Knowledge:

  • Implementation, operation, and administration of a Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) solution
  • Tools and equipment typical to a manufacturing and machine shop industry
  • Keeping abreast with a strong understanding of market trends and competitors' best practices
  • Working knowledge of MS office suite (Sharepoint, Forms, Power BI, etc)
  • Familiarity with other software solutions
  • Engineering standards (eg. ASTM, ASME)
  • Occupational Health & Safety standards
  • Knowledge of Lean / 6Sigma principles is considered an asset

Accountability:

  • Development and oversight of the Asset Management Strategy for new and existing assets (Tooling, Equipment), including actions stemming from said strategy (Operator Pre-Use Checklists, Maintenance Preventive Maintenance tasks, Vendor setup for parts and services, onhand spare parts inventory, identification of operator or technician training gaps)
  • Development, implementation, and maintenance of OEM's Asset Criticality Matrix
  • Annual review of all assets against prior safety data, maintenance history (downtime, cost), and current and upcoming business conditions. Addition of newly purchased assets to the program. Inform management of any changes to the Asset Criticality Matrix that may require an adjustment to the Asset Management Strategy
  • Accountability for the integrity and use of our selected Computerize Maintenance
