We currently have an opportunity for a Control Systems Specialist in our Automation & Controls Department located in our Winnipeg Head Office.

Reporting to the Manager, Automation & Controls, you will be responsible for instrumentation and process control systems for our grain, processing and port terminal operations.


Responsibilities:


  • Design, develop and implement PLC and HMI process control systems projects. Including project scope development, budget analysis, purchasing management, schedule management, cost control and project commissioning.
  • Analyze and interpret process control drawings; stay abreast of codes and government regulations
  • Manage projects and contractors as required to deliver on meeting the goals of as assigned by the company.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance program for process control systems
  • Act as a technical lead to front line operations and maintenance department staff
  • Provide support to troubleshoot and resolve electrical technical issues, investigate and analyze repetitive failures and make recommendations for remediation.
  • Configure, program, troubleshoot and maintain process control systems.
  • Support commissioning and startup project related activities from process control.
  • Ensure timely resolution of technical issues, and technical support requests from other stakeholders in close collaboration with various cross functional teams.
  • Sustainability of control systems through maintenance of regulatory systems and critical Alarm & Interlocks by utilizing continuous improvement mindset
  • Able to travel, 1 to 2 times per month, depending on project demand requirements
  • Available for afterhours support on a rotational basis, including evening, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications:

  • Postsecondary degree/diploma in Electrical related Engineering or Engineering Technology, or equivalent qualifications preferred
  • Minimum 35 years PLC and HMI programming experience, preferably in the agindustrial or food processing industries.
  • Ideally 5+ years of industry experience with: PLC Programming and HMI/SCADA Development
  • Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Schneider (Preferred primary experience); Rockwell Plant PAx experience will be considered and asset; Commissioning; Troubleshooting/Testing/Debugging; Data communications; Networking experience will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of and experienced in review/updating of controls system documentation which include P&ID's, control narratives, logic diagrams, cause and effect diagrams, loop wiring diagrams, etc. 35 years project management experience working in various types of electrical and controls projects.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal and communication skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to provide technical support to operating plants
