Purpose of the Job/Objective


The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the efficient management and control of the satellite warehouse operations in Burlington.

Whilst achieving agreed service levels to production and meeting all safety requirements.

You will be responsible for organizing the safe and efficient receipt of goods, production line feeding, stock accuracy management, picking parts and all relevant activities pertaining to warehouse management.


You must be willing to take a pratical hands on approach while coordinating, administration and general management including the management of 2-3 warehouse operators.

  • Hierarchical Reporting: Warehouse Manager

Key Responsibilities;

  • Oversee all operations of warehouse(s) from goods receipt, putaway, picking, staging, delivering, line movement, logistics, and shipping.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practices warehouse vision, strategy, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
  • Represent the company in a professional, enthusiastic and positive manner.
  • Ensure an efficient warehouse operation which is able to fulfill operational and customer demand.
  • Provide a safe working environment, adhering to Alstom Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and ensuring they are understood and practiced by the team at all times.
  • Understand production plan and needs and ensure alignment with warehouse planning. Keep up to date and respond accordingly to all enquiries.
  • Ensure inventory is accurate and control inventory levels by physical counts, cycle counting are conducted regularly and reconciled with SAP utilising the warehouse team.
  • Maintain metrics and KPIs, reports, process documentation, receiving logs and training and safety records. Review performance regularly with team.
  • Coordinate all transportation and shipping activities accordingly.( Carrier claims, milk runs, expedited, international, etc).
  • Continuously review ways to aid efficiency, add value and reduce costs as well as deliviering Alstom APSYS continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise a warehouse team (23) to optimise warehoue performance and meet target and deadlines.
  • Communicate with your team on a regular basis to foster a culture of transparency and ensure everyone is aware of priorities and targets.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
  • Identify and contribute to improvement including local impact on processes and tools. Benchmark and align with other Alstom site.
  • Create picking schedule and plan in accordance to production schedule
  • Proactively contribute to creating a good team atmosphere.

Skills/Experience/Knowledge

  • Postsecondary, Degree preferred or relevant experience.
  • Proven management skills and demonstrable experience of running a warehouse.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong decision making skills.
  • Resilient, with a Can do/will do attitude. Ability to motivate others.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills coupled with the ability to negotiate and influence at all levels within the business.
  • Preferred Background: Train/Rail industry, Make to Order Manufacturing, Manufacturing
  • Languages: English, French
  • Mandatory experience: Minimum 5 years in a similar function
  • Great understanding of logistic and transportation operations
  • Inventory management
  • Knowledge and understanding of lean techniques.
  • Fork lift, Reach Truck, Crane certification is a plus.
