    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Program Supervisor Volunteer Pool, and the technical direction and guidance of the Head Lifeguard, safeguards the facility to ensure the public have a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safeguards the facility; prevents potential accidents and performs rescues in accordance with emergency procedures.
  • Performs assignments, when not on lifeguarding shift, such as cleaning the pool site, pool tests, batherload statistics and assisting patrons.
  • Ensures proper equipment is set up before each lifeguarding shift.
  • Participates in training and staff meetings as required.
  • Completes report forms related to timesheets, accidents, unusual events, thefts, complaints and water chemistry.
  • Participates in the organization and implementation of special events such as swim meets and fun days.
  • Repairs equipment, or take appropriate action in the meantime, and advises supervisor of any equipment maintenance or replacement needed.
  • Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Experience:

  • Current certifications: National Lifeguard Service, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
  • Skills/Abilities :

  • Must be customer service orientated and able to get along with other members of the staff team
  • Must demonstrate initiative and show a positive attitude
  • Assets:

  • CRCS/LSS Instructor
  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must maintain all awards current from date of application until end of employment period
  • Must attend and complete within three months of employment, customer service training and WHMIS training
  • Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Will be required to work irregular hours and weekends
