    The Edmonton Police Service

    (EPS) requires a knowledgeable, experienced and organized individual to assist the Program Manager Emergency Management in the development and maintenance of the Emergency and Continuity Management Program. Responsibilities include:
  • Accountable to conduct and maintain EPS Hazard Risk and Vulnerability Analyses.
  • Accountable to improve facility emergency response planning.
  • Recommend prevention and mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain impact analyses, continuity strategies and plans, and emergency plans.
  • Develop and conduct exercises.
  • Develop guidelines, protocols and educational tools for business continuity and emergency management.
  • Develop short term resumption and long- term recovery strategies.
  • Facilitate planning and preparedness sessions on a variety of emergency and continuity management related subjects.
  • Standardize processes and procedures with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Prepare, develop, and maintain related documentation, reports, statistics, and recommendations.
  • Research continuity of operations strategies, methodologies and guidelines and make recommendations for EPS to use.
  • Prepare Emergency Preparedness materials for EPS.
  • Work collaboratively with others to achieve a common goal.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Job Requirements :
  • Completion of a university degree.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible and related experience.
  • Project management experience within a public sector environment would be beneficial.
  • Experience in a policing or a similar environment may be preferred.
  • Knowledge of Emergency and Business Continuity Management standards, best practices, principles and guidelines is required.
  • Disaster Recovery Institute accreditation or similar is preferred.
  • Certificate or other professional training in Emergency Management, Business Continuity Management, Exercise Design or similar preferred.
  • Formal Incident Command System (ICS) and Emergency Operations / Coordination Centre (EOC/ECC) training preferred.
  • Class 5 Driver's License and ability to obtain and maintain City of Edmonton Driver's Permit is required.
  • Significant skill and ability in project and process management including the ability to effectively gather, synthesize and analyze data.
  • Ability to integrate strategic planning into operational practice.
  • Skill and expertise working with interdisciplinary teams on collaborative emergency and continuity strategy development.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with experience in data research and analysis.
  • Capable of managing many concurrent and complex work assignments.
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize a high volume workload in a demanding fast paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Enthusiasm for Emergency Preparedness, Business Continuity and Emergency Management.
  • Exceptional organizational & planning skills and oral & written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with a great degree of autonomy.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • As part of your pre-hire screening you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
  • Salary Range: 21M, Salary Grade 030: - (Hourly), - (Bi-Weekly), - (Annually).
