Job Scope
The primary responsibility of the Administrative Assistant is to perform management support work for the Rebuilding Nationhood Project.
The Administrative Assistant will provide a range of clerical and management support duties, including:
research, drafting briefing notes and a variety of communications and correspondence, and assisting with reports and technical documents, and information tracking methods
Other responsibilities include:
taking meeting minutes, collaborating with internal staff and external stakeholders to coordinate communications and public relations campaigns and engagement sessions, as well as organizing records associated with the project, and assisting with transactional paperwork.
The Administrative Assistant will work closely with the project coordinator, and senior members of staff assigned to this project.A key element of success for this management support worker will be developing an awareness and understanding about the work of the Rebuilding Nationhood Project, and the benefits to our membership.
Other related duties as required.
The Administrative Assistant is a highly motivated professional who demonstrates ethical and responsible work practices, and who ensures confidentiality of information and understands the importance of adhering to policies and procedures.
This employee works closely with senior staff to form a collaborative and supportive team work atmosphere, while having ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
- Mature individual of professional presentation with a minimum grade 12 high school diploma.
- Three (3) years' experience providing administrative support work with a public service sector employer
- Experience with filing systems and record keeping
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team made up of senior staff
- Ability to facilitate meetings and prepare agendas and take meeting notes
- Organization skills that allow you the ability to handle competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Good interpersonal skills that allow you the ability to interact well with the public
- Good communication skills (written and oral) that allow you the ability to listen to understand and respond
- Cultural sensitivity; ability to work with all members of the community.
- Compliance with BC Immunization program, TB Screening, and COVID19 vaccinations.
- Satisfactory completion of a police information check
- Ability to provide own transportation to and from work
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and drivers abstract is required.
Additional Information
- Postsecondary education/experience with analysis work
- Previous experience working for, or a relational understanding of First Nations Governance, Cree and Dene law, or FNFN history
- Certificate or Diploma in Office Administration
- Google drive, calendar, forms and other Google products.
- Ability to speak Dene and/or Cree.
Work Conditions
The regular hours of work are 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday; weekly schedule will be determined with the successful applicant.
