LOCATION:
Markham, Canada

The hiring team will require the student to come to the LOCATION office at least 3 days a week. COVID-19 protocols are being strictly followed.


PROGRAM TERM:12 16-month position from May 6, August 29, 2025.


THE ROLE


The diagnostics team is responsible for developing test suites that exercise and validate the hardware blocks in the graphics and compute ASICs developed at AMD.

We are heavily involved in diagnostics development for the latest innovations in next generation graphics and compute ASICs that power the ultimate visual experience.

Once developed these diagnostics are used in all aspects of the product lifecycle, from pre-silicon validation through the production life of the product.


You will have an important role in ensuring robust diagnostics quality and feature coverage with opportunities to learn about HW features and SW/HW debugging.

This position requires knowledge and skills in both computer software and hardware engineering.


WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • The design and verification of diagnostics test suites
  • ASIC Qualification
  • ASIC and Board production test suites for both internal and external customers
  • Perform tuning activity on the diagnostics suite deliverables
  • Identifying and troubleshooting HW and SW problems
  • Support of customer issues, including investigation and debugging of diagnostics scripting and source code
  • Assist in ASIC bringup and support activities
  • Development and debug of automation tools/scripts to assist with the above

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

You may gain the following experience:

  • Learn about details of HPC/ML HW architecture and gain very deep understanding of HW components and data flow transactions
  • Integrate both SW development skills and HW knowledge to develop and debug diagnostics test suites
  • Put your programming and scripting skills to practical use through automation tool development
  • Strong enhancement of interpersonal skills through collaborative problem solving within a team environment
  • Gain valuable experience, understanding, and exposure to various facet of the industry to build a strong baseline for your future career

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrolled in a 4 year degree program in
  • Electronics/Computer Engineering
  • Computer Science with emphasis on Computer Architecture
  • Engineering Physics or Physical Sciences

PRERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Please have knowledge of one or more of the following technical skills:

  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware architecture
  • Strong knowledge and experience in software programming (C/C++, scripting)
  • Experience with software development and debugging in Linux
  • Experience with Source control systems (svn, git, Perforce, etc)
  • Self leadership and independence, along with excellent communication skills
