Key Objective

As our Specialty Commercial Lines Underwriter, you'll operate at the heart of our commercial underwriting team. Using smart tech, strategic insight, and technical precision to optimize risk decisions and deliver winning broker outcomes. This isn't manual mode underwriting

Key Accountabilities

Underwrite new and renewal commercial accounts with technical excellence and strategic precision
Build and maintain strong broker relationships that drive business growth and mutual success
Negotiate renewals with confidence using unmatched product knowledge and market insight
Prepare underwriting instructions for renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and new business with speed and accuracy
Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, authority limits, and governance standards
Balance disciplined underwriting with creative agility; use your authority to tackle complex risks in innovative ways
Jump into special initiatives and curveballs when they appear, your adaptability helps the whole team level up

Qualifications

4+ years of commercial property underwriting experience
Strong technical knowledge of commercial lines coverages.
Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills, with strong customer service instincts
Strong computer skills with high proficiency in MS Office; fast, accurate work is critical
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to adapt positively when priorities shift
Inclusive, transparent, and collaborative mindset with the resilience to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Successful completion of a criminal record check
General Insurance License in good standing (or the ability to obtain one within 60 days)

Salary Range: CAD $65,000-$110,000

*Actual pay may be below or above range based on candidates' knowledge, skills, and level of ability relative to expectations for the role applied to. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply.
