Scientist - Life Sciences/Agriculture/Cannabis Division, Ancaster, Ontario

Purpose/Key Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for performing testing services and operations based on specific analytical requirements

that may include regional and international analysis.


Minimum Requirements:

MSc or PhD degree in Chemistry or related science required.


Experience:

Preferably 1-2 years analytical experience, ISO 17025 or regulated (e.g., cGMP/cGLP) environment is an asset.


Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for the implementation and development of analytical testing services for different

departments at Actlabs, Ancaster, ON. The following responsibilities may include some or all of the following or any

other tasks assigned directly or indirectly by the department Manager or Supervisor.

  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Quality driven, detail oriented, and selfmotivated
  • Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and ability to multitask
  • Ability to investigate and troubleshoot LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, HPLC and technical issues
  • Strong computer, instrument software, documentation and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Knowledge of and experience in advanced chromatography with tandem MS/MS capabilities
  • High degree of competency and ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot and navigate complex matrixrelated chromatography issues
  • Ability to research new technologies, systems and methods

Competencies:

  • Provide hands on bench top research and development for major chromatography project using stateofthe art instrumentation
  • Working ability to design, develop and implement methods for various food types products
  • Implement and manage filling systems
  • Work under established ISO 17025 and/or GLP/GMP quality systems
  • Identify bottlenecks and assist in streamlining operations with continuous improvement in mind
  • Ensure data is properly documented, processed and organized in a timely manner
  • Maintain analytical equipment to ensure operational requirements are met
  • Work in accordance with company policies/regulations including health and safety policies
  • Maintain inventories and GMP checks of chemicals, standards, accessories and pertinent items to ensure analyses are performed without delay
  • Followup, identify and communicate incidents that require immediate attention
  • Implement regulatory standards and systems and assist management as required
  • Perform laboratory notebook documentation and review to support compliance standard

Salary:
$60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
