Polar Sapphire Ltd. is a manufacturer of high purity aluminum oxide powder (alumina) with a factory located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

Our innovative manufacturing process focuses on improving yields and reducing the total cost of ownership for our customers.


We combine hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy to perform purification at a lower temperature and with less power, thereby reducing costs and improving the consistency of our product's purity.


The Role:


The Research and Development Technician supports the broader Research and Development team to develop new products and samples for the commercialization of our HPA products that meet customer's needs.

The R&D Technician role also will help maintain current R&D equipment, install and operationalize new equipment and help support all activities in the R&D area.


The R&D technician will support the R&D manager in designing and conducting technical experiments and field analysis to improve current products and develop new products that are tailored to customer's unique performance requirements.


Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with testing plan creation and execution of test plans, data collection, and quality evaluation
  • Operating and maintaining the R&D equipment and participating in production if needed. (Working in afternoon shift might be needed)
  • Create analytical reports and present findings and recommendations
  • Support literature review as directed by the R&D manager.
  • Sampling and delivering testing materials to 3rdparty laboratories for assessment
  • Working with outside vendors for consumables and additional parts and components needed
  • Packaging samples for customer shipment along with quality/performance data
  • Adherence to safety protocols; ensuring R&D area are always kept organized and clean
PERSONAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Familiar in the use of sophisticated mechanical and electronic equipment along with power and hand tools(must be handson)
  • Detailoriented; ability to take thorough notes during literature review, follow instructions during experimental setup and operation and collecting the data
  • Excellent communication skills; able to present findings clearly and concisely through written reports and oral presentations.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize multiple competing tasks while ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a group setting, as well as working independently to efficiently complete selfdirected tasks
  • Good understanding of data analysis and technical performance criteria including high purity systems
  • Familiar with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Completion of University or College Degree/Diploma Course in a science-related field, preferably with chemical or mechanical background.

At least 2-3 years experience to work in R&D departments and/or chemical plants.


Salary:
$55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
