***: Under the direction of and reporting to the Dining Services Manager, the Cook prepares and serves attractive and nutritious meals and snacks, maintains all Food Safe / Serve it Right standards and ensures the kitchen area is kept clean, orderly and sanitary.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares, cooks and serves meals and snacks according to the established menu in an appealing and appetizing manner.
Provides assistance in the supervision of the kitchen staff.
Evaluates meals being served by testing for palatability and temperatures and adjusts accordingly.
Ensures Food Safe standards are met.
Records any and all menu shortages and reports shortages to the manager.
Resolves customer concerns immediately and professionally.
Assists with inventory control duties such as storing and rotating food and supplies.
Responsible for the cleanliness of the food preparation area and the kitchen equipment.
GENERAL SKILLS:
Be an effective communicator by verbally sharing information with team, reporting information to the manager, accurately reading communication books, memos and logs, and writing information as required ensuring a safe and successful delivery of services.
Demonstrate outstanding public relationship skills to work cooperatively and harmoniously with residents, potential clients, co-workers and all persons visiting Augustine House.
Recognize and report safety hazards and actively participates in maintaining a safe, neat, clean environment for the Residents and Staff.
Regularly attend departmental meetings, in-services and educational opportunities such as fire response, hand hygiene, infection control, health and safety within the residence and seeks out opportunities for ongoing learning and education.
Adheres to established Augustine House policies and procedures such as, but not limited to, attendance, dress code, performance, personal conduct and complaint resolution.
Fully vaccinated for Covid-19 as per Ministry of Health Order
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Certified Cook from an accredited school and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
A minimum of two years experience in volume food preparation in the Hotel/Restaurant or /Catering Industry.
Must be able to work independently and be committed to meeting deadlines.
Valid WHMIS, Food Safe & Serving it Right certificates.

Part-time hours: 24 per week
Salary:
$21.25-$24.14 per hour
