POSITION OVERVIEW:


Under the direction of the Manufacturing Manager and departmental Team Lead(s), the position performs a variety of machine operating functions.

These duties include but are not limited to operating fabric coating equipment (stenterframe), examining fabric or products for conformity to quality standards, marking defects and repairing minor defects, needling fabric, and other operating responsibilities, as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Responsible for operating finishing department machinery (singeing, calendaring, and laminating) to perform heat setting and fabric coatings to meet fabric ISO standards.
  • Set up equipment as per work orders, and machine layouts to meet standards.
  • Record and enter information into the ERP system, based on work orders and finishing requirements.
  • Measures and/or weighs finished product by placing the finished rolls on the scale and measuring them with a standard tape measure.
  • Responsible for operating the quality machinery (perch), to examine fabrics and products for conformity to quality standards, including inspecting every meter of fabric, marking defects on fabric, and taking samples for the QA department to test and slitting fabric.
  • As required, operate needling, blending and garneting machinery based on work orders scheduled.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Completed Ontario Secondary School Diploma at a minimum.
  • 3+ years' experience operating industrial machinery.
  • 3+ years' experience reading machine layouts and reading work orders.
  • Experience working within an ERP system; scanning work orders, entering work order data.
  • Must be comfortable with shift work with varying start and end times, through mornings, afternoons, and evenings depending on the shift.
