About the role
We're looking for a Senior Underwriting Analyst, Personal lines, to join our growing team


What you'll do here:


  • Coordinate the development and revision of underwriting manuals, product wording, rating and underwriting guidelines, and coordinates rate changes using knowledge of the industry market and competitors.
  • Interpret production and loss reports and make recommendations to improve the growth and profitability of the book of business.
  • Foster underwriting rules that consider the customeroriented internet selfservice approach, while meeting company quality and profitability objectives.
  • Lead file reviews to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures identify coaching opportunities and make recommendations for handling.
  • Lead user representation for the development and implementation of products, projects and operational procedures which will result in improved risk selection for products, more efficient/costeffective handling and that meet government regulations.
  • Negotiate, persuade, innovate and achieve changes on documentation in order to facilitate users' training as well as the integration of new processes and technologies within current operations.
  • Responsible for thirdparty vendor relationships.
  • Provide technical underwriting support, training and assistance to underwriters, agents and other staff on an ongoing basis at both policy and conceptlevel.
  • Research, analyze and resolve various underwriting and technical issues.
  • May prepare detailed system requirements.

What you bring to the table:


  • [Education required] or any combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word)
  • FCIP or CIP designation preferred
  • Experience in underwriting and risk assessment, particularly in property insurance
  • Strong knowledge of rating, products, and coverage
  • Can manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
