The Trade and Export Development Unit, within the Investment & Trade Division, advances Manitoba's trade agenda by setting strategic direction, providing export development programming, and targeting markets of greatest opportunity.

The Unit also works to take advantage of trade agreements, and advance the needs of Manitoba businesses and industries to enable economic growth through competitive trade opportunities.


Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must have a valid Manitoba driver's license
  • Must be able to travel nationally or internationally via motorized vehicle, airplane and/or train
  • Must be able to work outside regular office hours, as required.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Postsecondary education, preferably at the graduate level, in social sciences, international relations, public administration, marketing, economics, business or another relevant discipline. An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience leading projects or special events from the design, research and analysis stages to presentation, implementation and evaluation stages.
  • Ability to undertake market analysis, understand the principles of export development, and the ability to identify economic opportunities for Manitoba
  • Experience working in a team environment and providing coaching, support and mentorship to junior staff working on projects.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to express ideas in a clear, concise and organized manner for a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with experience presenting to senior executives for the purpose of decisionmaking and managing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to work independently with mínimal supervision in order to manage competing priorities and tasks within required timeframe.
  • Political acumen demonstrated through experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders on complex topics and sensitive issues.

Desired:

  • Experience working with businesses or economic development organizations on trade and export development opportunities.
  • Working understanding of existing trade agreements, strategies and implications for Manitoba, is considered an asset

Duties:


The Business and Trade Development Analyst oversees the on-going delivery of trade programming, supports tradeshows and missions, assists in the development and implementation of trade strategies, and works collaboratively to identify trade market opportunities based on existing trade agreements.
