Junior IT Support Technician**
General Accountability

Key Job Functions

Duties include:

  • Providing first line support to the organization, through channels including ticketing software, phone, chat, and social media;
  • Analyzing problems and determining possible causes and resolutions;
  • Researching unknown errors reported to the IT Service Desk;
  • Preparing system notifications to be sent out to users as required;
  • Recommending or implementing business and/or technical solutions using network management and problem resolution software to resolve problems;
  • Assessing whether hardware requires repair service and recommends units for repair to a Senior Analyst;
  • Assisting with the development of operational and performance system configurations for desktop services;
  • Maintaining records, procedures, documents and reports which specify requirements for longer term repairs and other remedial action;
  • Updating all Incidents and Service Requests in Service Desk Manager with appropriate comments in a timely manner;
  • Researching and evaluating desktop technologies, hardware/software products, tools and services;
  • Providing technical and functional assistance, guidance and direction to other IT staff and customers concerning the use of desktop equipment and problem resolutions;
  • Carrying out various administrative duties, such as time accounting, work plan formulations, group meetings, intersite visits and hardware repairs;
  • Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service provider and an employer.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Graduate (or near graduate) of a university degree, community college diploma, or technical diploma in Computer Studies, or have relevant working experience in the computer service field;
  • Must possess a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's License.

Additional Requirements

  • This position may be required to provide off hours and weekend on call support;
  • Must possess good technical knowledge and a strong customer service focus, to showcase excellent customer service and customer relation skills;
  • Must possess good analytical, problem solving, organization, interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and administrative skills;
  • Ability to maintain positive work and customer relationships, and be a team player.
