Reporting to the Director, Student Experience and Success, the Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, operationalizing and management of the integrated, multi-campus services supporting student mental health, well-being and accessibility services.


The incumbent is accountable to ensure the institution meets all legal and ethical requirements when providing mental health and accessibility services to the students.

The Manager, will coordinate and lead an interdisciplinary team to support a stepped care model of supports to aid students to develop and succeed individually and academically.


As an advocate for mental health, accessibility and well-being, the Manager will provide leadership and build strategies to directly impact our students while supporting the College's commitment to its 5 Pillars; _Student Success, Program and Service Excellence, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Connection to Community and Sustainability_.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision and Leadership

  • Provide leadership and direction to a multidisciplinary team of regulated and nonregulated professionals
  • Hire, provide orientation, determine scheduling, clinically supervise and evaluate the performance of department staff
  • Coordinate and promote an interdisciplinary team approach to promoting student mental health and wellness
  • Coordinate daily operations and service delivery models in Mental Health and Accessibility Services
  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of program service plans and review staffing levels through the year, adjust service areas to meet the demands of student support needs
  • Monitor intake and triage protocols, crisis response, service demand, staffing needs and appropriate resource allocation
  • Ensure adherence to best practice standards, quality assurance protocol, risk/threat management, internal service standards, regulated College ethics and standards and workflow efficiencies
  • Oversee the development of outreach programming, marketing and materials to promote wellbeing, Counselling and Wellness services for all students
  • Provide PHIPA record custodianship, direct and monitor the maintenance of health records to ensure compliance with regulations and quality care for students
  • Collaborate with all academic areas to meet student needs including leading strategic efforts in partnership with key campus collaborators to advance healthy campus planning
  • Develop appropriate external and internal partnerships to meet the health and wellness needs of the College's student population
  • Build and maintain ongoing relationships with academic departments and build relationships with colleagues to further the awareness of available services
  • Monitor program and service assessments including operational outcomes and servicelevel measures. Integrate data into Ministry reports
Strategic Projects and Student Retention Initiatives

  • Work in collaboration with the Student Experience and Success team, Academic Centre of Excellence, Academic Leadership Team and academic staff to facilitate coordination and alignment of referral pathways, delivery of programs and services to support student success and meet institutional strategic goals related to student retention
  • Conduct regular research to understand and respond to the continuous and evolving needs of Canadore's diverse student population with attention to supporting special populations including students with disabilities, Indigenous students and International students
  • Contribute to the development of the overall strategic direction of the Student Experience and Success division
  • Work closely with Learning and Testing Services, Academic Programs, and other departments to expand early alert, referral, and intervention strategies to identify and support atrisk and underprepared students in the first semester and ongoing
  • Develop highly effective relationships between key collaborators in academics and college services to proactively address student needs and optimize services, programs, and initiatives that promote student success and retention
  • Participate in the development and facilitation of communities of practice for professionals, paraprofessionals and academic staff engage in the delivery of student learning supports
  • Mobilize proactive engagement and collaboration to encourage integrated practice, eliminate silos, share best practices and case consultation
  • Implement a communication plan and strategy to ensure students and the college community are informed of services
  • Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of peer support programs (i.e. mental health, wellbeing, learning, etc.)
