MacCosham has been providing rail yard terminal services for over 50 years and is experienced in the management of a variety of yard configurations.

In addition to our rail intermodal terminal services, including lift-on/lift-off of containers and hostler services, we also operate several container and chassis repair depots associated with rail yard terminal services, with a full range of mechanical, welding, and associated repair services.

MacCosham Inc. is looking for a full time, permanent Groundsperson/Labourer to join our growing team in Calgary, AB.

Role Responsibilities:

Perform pretrips on heated and refrigerated containers. Following instructions communicated by our customer. Accurately reporting fuel and temperature readings.
Perform inventory checks in specialized software (Oasis)
Complete and document pretrip analysis of yard equipment using tablets
Inspect all equipment interchanged by rail at Terminal for damages/defects
Carefully placing and removing IBCs (inter box connectors) from containers on railcar, unlocking/locking containers
Driving service vehicles in tight areas
Performing physical duties relevant to job requirements (standing/bending/lifting/climbing on railcars)
Ability to understand and follow all safety procedures and regulations
Carry out all reasonable additional tasks as required

Qualifications:

Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License
Must be able to work on a rotating 2week, 12hour shift schedule
Comfortable working outdoors in all elements
Able to communicate clearly, in English, over the radio
Must have steel toe boots with a minimum 6" rise
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Must have basic computer skills and be comfortable working with iPads
Capable of working under mínimal supervision
Must demonstrate safe and efficient workplace practices
Must be able to work within a team environment to meet tight deadlines
Highly motivated team player, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
Strong attention to detail
Capable of meeting the physical demands of the environment (i.e Lifting up to 75 pounds)
Must be able to pass a company paid preemployment screening test and background check as this is a safety sensitive position
