**Position Title: Machine Operator

Department: Production

Location: Nobleford, AB

The Opportunity
This role is responsible for operating a multitude of equipment or machinery in a designated work area or department. Duties may include operation of a variety of machines that cut, bend, roll or otherwise shape metal, and the operation of forklifts or other power mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Use a variety of manufacturing equipment to fabricate steel (industrial bends, plasma cutters, cut to length machines, etc.).
  • Read and understand blueprints, specifications and drawings
  • Set up and operate all key equipment in the fabrication department (Plasma table, Laser, Presses, brakes, rollers)
  • Arrange parts and staging of materials
  • Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements
  • Ensure quality checks of products are completed as required
  • Complete required PM's and calibrations for their machines and tools
  • Report any quality concerns to lead hand
  • Complete job orders using Kanban cards and job orders properly (if applicable)
  • Accurately complete scrap tickets, travelers and shift reports
  • Review of finish parts to ensure accuracy against drawings
  • Follow all SOP's and SWI's required for the departments.
  • Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements i.e. continual improvements
  • Review of finished parts to ensure accuracy against drawings & BOMs.
  • Report fabrication issues and assist in resolutions as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Manufacturing experience is an asset
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools
  • Able to work in fast paced environment handling heavy loads and standing for long periods of time
  • Possess attention to detail, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Able to operate overhead crane and forklift (if applicable)
  • Able to read, understand and follow blueprints
  • Ability to read and interpret a tape measure
  • Able to complete basic mathematics (addition, subtraction)
  • Able to use basic hand tools
  • Able to read, write, and interpret English language
  • Great attention to detail
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Exemplary attendance record
  • Willing to perform a variety of tasks
