The Opportunity


We are currently seeking
Superintendent of Mobile Equipment Projects & Shutdown Management
to join our Project & Shutdown Management Team l team in Sudbury.

This is a permanent **position.


This role will be responsible for working with all levels in Mine Operations and Maintenance, Reliability and Mobile equipment manufacturers and vendors to procure new equipment and rebuild existing equipment for our North Atlantic Operations in Sudbury, Thompson and Voisey's Bay and Long Harbour.


Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Manage a multi-year portfolio of $85M worth of transaction per year of capital mobile equipment replacements and rebuilds along with additional purchases to the Mine fleet in Sudbury, Thompson and Voisey's Bay.
  • Functionall y lead and coach and mentor Project Leads, Project Engineer(s), Scheduler, Project Controls Coordinator(s) in line w ith mobile equipment rebuild and replacements.
  • Link with Reliability group to ensure execution of 5year equipment replacement and rebuild strategy within budget and required dates.
  • Adherence to capital governance requirements for the S&D portfolio.
  • Identify milestones and critical inter dependency links associated with S&D capital AFE's, APC's, SAP budget load and movement, Purchase Orders to manufactures and vendors, adherence to invoicing standards.
  • Continuously monitor equipment manufacturer supply chain delivery status and forecasts and make necessary adjustments to procurement and funding requirements and forecasts.
  • Audit the PHRs and HSE reviews within the portfolio for quality and adherence to standards.
  • Interface with Procurement to ensure RFQ's are processed in time to meet equipment delivery requirements
  • Interface with Reliability department to ensure equipment specs and technical validations are completed.
  • Responsible for the oversite of AFE Requisitions and Purchase Order management.
  • Oversite of recurring meetings with Procurement, OEMs, and Plant personnel to ensure New Equipment Deliveries and Rebuild work is on schedule and on budget.
  • Ensure equipment is properly onboarded, received, and invoiced.
  • Process changes to the established projects through the Vetting and Capital Steering meetings.
  • Responsible for the forecast and variances to plan.
  • Prepare presentations and spreadsheets to collate and communicate information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Track progress for mobile equipment rebuilds and replacements at each mine.
  • Lead up to 6 Mobile equipment specialists.

Education:


  • Engineering degree preferred.
  • PMP is preferred.

Experience:


  • Minimum 8 years' experience in a related role.

Skills:


  • Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Must have strong organization and time management skills.
  • Takes initiative and can selfdirect to accomplish goals with minimum supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge and understanding of VPS Technical, SAP, project management principles and strategies and strong project management skills.
  • Understanding of the mining equipment industry, manufacturers, vendors, and service providers
  • Knowledge of Vale mobile equipment standards
  • Maintenance Supervision, Project Implementation, and Engineering knowledge
