AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:


Under the direction of the Deputy City Clerk, the Legislative Assistant provides administrative assistance to the Deputy City Clerk and Legislative Coordinators in the support of Council and various committees and cross functional teams, involving the City Clerk's Office.


  • Assists with the preparation and circulation of agenda packages.
  • Drafts correspondence; including public notices and affidavits ensuring information is documented accurately and provided to all relevant parties and committees.
  • Tracks and ensures all meeting minutes and affidavits are signed, copied, filed and sealed as required.
  • Assists with entering reports such as Site Inspection Reports for the Brampton Safety Council.
  • Assists with public meetings, hearings and events; including registration, preparation of documentation and materials.
  • Provides internal and external customer service related to the daily operations within the City Clerk's Office, including responding to inquiries and processing payments.
  • Provides assistance during municipal election and byelections.
  • Performs additional similar and related duties as assigned.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

***- High school (Grade 12) graduation plus an additional program of up to one year in Office Administration or equivalent.

  • Over one (1) year, up to and including two (2) years of experience directly related to the position duties outlined above.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and additional related software.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
