    A Day in the Life...

    Reporting to the Manager, National Recruitment, the Recruitment Officer is responsible for supporting Brock University's Strategic Enrolment Management as it relates to undergraduate student recruitment. The Recruitment Officer will serve as the public face of Brock to Canadian secondary school students and encourage them to choose Brock for their undergraduate studies. This is done by initiating and maintaining strong relationships with secondary school contacts (Guidance Counsellors and teachers), parents, and students across the country. The objective is to increase the size of our overall applicant pool, ensure we are providing equitable and accessible service to all constituencies, and to increase the academic caliber of our applicants. Plans for both in-person and virtual school visits are being explored, as well as teams of recruiters dedicated to each of those delivery methods.

    As theOfficer, Recruitment, you will:

    • Learn and retain relevant details of all academic programs and services related to the Brock student experience;
    • Develop the skills necessary to effectively conduct Brock presentations at secondary schools across the country;
    • Participate in an annual professional development workshop offered for all Ontario University recruitment officers;
    • Conduct Brock informational presentations at secondary schools across Canada;
    • Participate in large-scale events for prospective students and applicants (i.e. Ontario Universities'' Fair, Postsecondary Information Events, etc.);
    • Respond to ongoing inquiries from students, counsellors and parents;
    • participate in large-scale on-campus events for prospective students and applicants, such as Fall Preview Day and
    • Participate in other recruitment and public speaking engagements as opportunities arise.

    What you need to Succeed...

    • Undergraduate degree (with high academic standing from any discipline) with preference given to graduates of Brock University;
    • Valid G class driver's license with an acceptable drivers' abstract;
    • At least six months of experience making presentations and successfully promoting products and services;
    • Extensive knowledge base of the Brock undergraduate experience;
    • Ability to master a significant volume of detailed information related to all aspects of the Brock undergraduate student experience;
    • Polished presentation and communication skills and strong technical/multimedia skills;
    • Evident love of Brock and a positive high-energy spirit;
    • Ability to keep abreast of changes and current trends in and around the University;
    • Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy;
    • Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences (secondary school students, teachers, guidance counsellors, families and support networks, transfer students, etc.)
    • Strong organizational ability and proven administrative skills;
    • Sound judgement, resourceful, and ability to address inquiries with confidence and accuracy;
    • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to navigate unpredictable situations;
    • Flexibility to work irregular hours and independently as well as in a close-knit team environment; and
    • Comfortable travelling extensively.

    Salary and Benefit Information

    • Job Grade (J), Salary Scale ($52,-$90,) *;

    *The salary range indicated is representative of all positions evaluated at this level. Actual salary is determined by assessing related skills, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness, subject to available budget.
