As our Financial Reporting Analyst, you'll be a key member of Canfor's Finance team, responsible for a full range of operational, financial and management accounting reporting and analysis.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Analysis (and in the interim, the Director of Corporate Reporting & Analysis) your primary focus is supporting the Senior Financial Reporting Analyst with the preparation of the Company's quarterly/annual external materials.

This position also assists with overall execution of the finance mission for the Company's Finance department, and at times, involves working closely with the Senior Manager, Corporate Analysis and/or the Director of Corporate Reporting & Analysis on ad-hoc initiatives to achieve such vision.


The life of the Financial Reporting Analyst includes:

  • Key contributor to the Company's monthly internal consolidated financial results, reports and analysis used by the Executive Team and Audit Committee
  • Support the Senior Financial Reporting analyst in preparing the Company's quarterly and annual external reporting materials, primarily focused on Management's Discussion and Analysis (and at times, assisting with the preparation and analysis of the external financial statements), including supporting documentation
  • Assist with the preparation of detailed quarterly and annual analysis of financial results for both public companies;
  • Key liaison with external auditors (primarily related to Management's Discussion and Analysis);
  • Develop relationships with finance partners across the business to stay in touch with the latest developments and to gain a detailed understanding of our key performance indicators (KPIs) and how they impact the Company's results;
  • Support the Senior Corporate Business Analyst in ensuring the timely and accurate monthly close and consolidation of Canfor and in the preparation of select monthly journal entries;
  • Support the Senior Corporate Business Analyst in the ownership and maintenance of the GL Chart of Accounts (COA);
  • Analyze requests for data and determine the best method to locate, assemble and report data from the ERP system (JD Edwards);
  • Identify opportunities to add value to the business either in terms of streamlining processes, improving quality of information presented to senior management or preparation of new analysis; and work on a range of adhoc consolidatedlevel finance projects.

For this role, come equipped with:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field with a CPA-CA designation
  • Minimum of three years progressive experience in accounting with a strong technical accounting foundation
  • Strong understanding of IFRS
  • Experience working with mediumlarge publicly listed companies
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to adapt to and become highly proficient in a variety of tools including the ERP system: Business Intelligence tools, Excel, etc.
