Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Generalist, the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator performs a wide range of payroll, benefits and HRIS duties.


Payroll Administration

  • Assist with full cycle payroll for hourly and salary employees, including setting up new hires in Ceridian Dayforce through to terminations and ROE's, including transfers and promotions
  • Process biweekly payroll for multiple pay cycles.
  • Maintain a wide variety of payroll information, files, and records in electronic formats for business continuity and audit trail for compliance.
  • Assist Finance with yearend duties including T2200's and T4 run.
  • Ensure compliance with all related federal/provincial legislation and internal policies and procedures as they relate to payroll services.
  • Process thirdparty invoices for payroll chargebacks.
  • Liaise with CRA and Service Canada to provide payroll information as required.
  • Respond to external and internal payroll concerns and inquiries timely and accurately.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information.
  • Assist with daytoday system maintenance requirements and troubleshooting.
  • Assign and maintain payroll related workflows (vacation, sick days, blackout calendar, etc.)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Benefits Administration

  • Process benefit enrollments and changes in Ceridian Dayforce and/or Sunlife
  • Provide employees with benefits package information
  • Respond to external and internal payroll concerns and inquiries timely and accurately
  • Conducts quarterly audits and reviews of benefit and pension enrollment

HRIS Administration

  • Maintain a time management system
  • Assist with daytoday system maintenance requirements and troubleshooting
  • Assign and maintain payrollrelated workflows (vacation, sick days, etc.)
  • Act as the main point of contact for Ceridian Dayforce and Sunlife in relation to payroll and benefit inquires

Education and Experience

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Business, Finance, Human Resources, or related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in full cycle payroll, Canadian payroll experience preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, Excel is required.
  • Understanding of payroll legislation
  • Working knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce or demonstrated working with HRIS/Payroll Systems
  • Advanced level understanding of employment legislations under the Employment Standards Act, Ontario, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health & Safety Act, and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act
