Overview:
Element has an opportunity for a

Microbiologist in a Food and Environment lab in Calgary whose primary responsibility is to support laboratory operations by conducting the relevant microbiological testing.

Responsibilities:

Maintain accurate records with a strict adherence to the corporate Quality System
Role includes working on weekends and some paid overtime as required
Shifts vary with working hours between 8 AM and 7 PM including weekends

Skills / Qualifications:

Minimum post secondary education in a microbiology related field
Microbiological techniques such as: direct plating, serial dilutions, qualitative pathogen detection, PCR, ELISA, biochemical bacterial identifications, membrane filtration, MPN and much more
Experience with Allergen quantification
Excellent aseptic technique
Effective time management
Good English communication skills
