    WHAT'S THE JOB?

    The Journeyman Welder will report directly to the Manager, Fleet Maintenance for Energy Services. The JM welder is responsible for fabrication and assembly of metal structures and components. The JM Welding will be using various welding techniques and reading blueprints for specifications.

    The Journeyman Welder performs some or all of the following duties:

  • Perform high-quality welding using techniques such as gas tungsten arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), to join metals according to project requirements and experience with (carbon arc cutting (CAC)
  • Read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to accurately plan and execute welding tasks.
  • Prepare metals by cleaning, cutting and shaping them to the required specifications using tools like grinders, saws and shears.
  • Regularly inspect, clean and maintain welding equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Quality control conducting visual inspections and use testing methods to ensure the quality and integrity of the welding.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to minimize the risk of accidents, including the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Comply with industry standards and codes for welding practices.
  • Collaborate with other team members to complete projects efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain records of welding activities, materials used, and any required certifications.
  • Able to operate heavy equipment and at times disassemble components to complete welding tasks.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Qualifications

    WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Completion of formal welding apprenticeship program
  • Journeyman Welder certification or relevant trade certification
  • Perform heavy manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, carrying and lifting heavy objects weighing up to 45 lbs.
  • Proficiency in various welding techniques and the ability to select the appropriate method for each job.
  • Strong knowledge of metallurgy and metal properties
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to follow them rigorously.
  • Assortment of hand/power tools as required.
  • Perform heavy manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, carrying and lifting heavy objects weighing up to 45 lbs.
  • Working at heights when required
  • Waling on a variety of surfaces including concrete and gravel.
  • Requires manual dexterity of both hands and feet to perform activities such as lifting overhead, twisting and bending while lifting, climbing ladders and stairs while wearing protective equipment, and working in confined spaces, including repetitive arm motion below, at, and above should level.
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
