Position Summary
The position will be for approx. 3 years and based out of our Fort Saskatchewan plant site.


Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the development and continual improvement of Project Management Standards, Procedures, Workflow process and Tools related to business case analysis.
  • Execute projects in accordance with policies, standards, practices and procedures to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements, and that they are consistent with Sherritt's objectives to deliver zero harm to employees, the environment and neighboring communities.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve communication (cooperation) with crossfunctional departments involved in either project execution or management, including, but not limited to, Operations, Supply Chain, IT, EH&S and other Asset Management Teams.
  • Identify, recommend, and utilize Project Management performance measures for Asset Management budgeting, business control, improvements, and prioritization.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to further optimize management of Projects, Capital Expenditure, Capital forecasting and the long range capital plan.
  • Provide input in the development of AFE for project financial approval.
  • Lead Project teams in developing Project Business Cases.
  • Perform financial analysis of project costs and benefits.
  • Communicate project business value and risks to project teams and business leaders.
  • Develop project business case reports
  • Key support for idea quality to determine initial business case
  • Develop project economic models with Total Cost of Ownership.
  • Assess project feasibility with project teams.
  • Perform final project assessments on actual versus delivered business results (value) along with potential learnings.

Qualifications and Skills

  • University degree in business or equivalent work experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation an asset
  • Understanding of current accounting best practices and standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Financial software, P6 or other PM software an asset
  • Working knowledge of project management controls and cost reporting.
  • Conceive and implement a 3 to 12month business plan
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Financial modeling skills
  • Proven ability to adapt to new technologies and tools that create efficiency and accelerate change
  • Communication, writing and presentation skills
  • Organizational change management
