About the Position:
- Working as part of the Trace Organics Sample Prep team, the AN0 is responsible for preparing environmental samples for instrumental analysis including maintaining adequate production, quality control and turnaround times.
- Work as part of a team or independently on digestion and extraction of basic samples following documented specific methods and/or procedures;
- Perform any required sample processing (e.g. screening, homogenization, subsampling, etc.) including work related to biohazardous samples;
- Perform basic sample concentration and cleanup procedures;
- Carry out all required work scheduling and planning activities;
- Carry out all required recordkeeping & documentation;
- Monitor inventory of spare parts and consumables;
- May assist with training;
- Review and provide input on SOP's;
- Follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) requirements and adhere to strict QA/QC requirements;
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Good English communication skills required (auditory, verbal, written, and reading);
- Basic user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), with basic computer skills;
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills;
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately in a fastpaced environment;
- Well organized, with the ability to meet strict deadlines;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand and carry out detailed instructions;
- Degree or technical diploma in chemistry or related science discipline;
- Some experience working in a fastpaced, production, and/or preparation environment an asset;
- Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
- This position requires a person to stand up to 8 hours per day;
- This position requires a person to lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis and carry for short distances;
- You may be exposed to unpleasant odours;
- This position requires a person to be clean shaven in order to safely wear a solvent respirator;
- Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.
