Purpose


The Asset Care Team Leader is responsible for the direction, supervision and development of plant electrical and mechanical technicians and proactive problem solving of production machinery.

A maintenance team leader is required to supervise on all shifts. The maintenance team leader is critical to support the plant in delivering the operational critical metrics.

Decision Making


  • Allocation and resources (staffing constraints) and establish priorities on repair of equipment taking into considering production constraints.
  • Evaluation of employee ability to problem solve and problem solve malfunctioning packaging equipment.
Financial Responsibility

The Maintenance Team leader is responsible for leading maintenance labour and overhead within their responsibility. The typical Maintenance Team Leader will run a labour budget of $300K-$400K and overhead expense budget of $300K-$500K.

Management Responsibility

Leads up to 30 mechanics and electricians and supports 4 bottling lines, whiskey production and other facility equipment.

Coordinates activities with production, planning and other areas of the plant.

The maintenance team leader is responsible for supporting the entire facility during their shift.

Complexity of Role

Knowledge of company policies, labour contracts and ability to administer both effectively.

Interview, hire, and terminate employees.

Develop mechanics to perform in a self-directed work environment

Develop mechanics to effectively solve production equipment related issues.

Ability to write and implement capital projects (less than $100,000).

Knowledge of regulatory (OSHA, EPA, BATF) and Risk Management policies and run direct and indirect reports to compliance.

Key Achievements


  • Drive the development of an empowered and self-directed maintenance department and encouraging the use of formal problem solving concepts/techniques.
  • Develop and administer preventive maintenance program for production equipment.
  • Maintain parts and storeroom within budgeted guidelines.
  • Maintain drawings and other line documentation
  • Act as a plant liaison for corporate engineering equipment purchases impacting the plant.
  • Create and maintain a safe work environment to minimize loss time and resultant monetary losses due to accidents on the job
  • Perform mechanical and electrical skill assessment and develop training program for staff
  • Identify capital projects to improve production efficiencies, reduce material loss, improve quality, safety, housekeeping, GMP and other related critical metrics
  • Assess the priority of production line downtime to render repairs.
  • Develop and maintain work order system.
  • Facilitate, motivate and promote good working relationships
C. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Ensure the standard of housekeeping and image are maintained
  • Must align with company's Good Manufacturing Practices including personal hygiene and all implemented Food Safety and Quality policies, programs and regulations.
  • SUPPORT QUALITY AND FOOD SAFETY TEAM TO ENSURE MAINTENANCE OF THE ISO / FSSC / HACCP SYSTEMS
D. GENERAL


  • Demonstrates Diageo corporate Mission, Vision and Values in relation to all aspects of the role
  • Participate in ongoing training as suggested by Management

Key Outputs:

  • Ensure that all work; including modifications and changes to any process have a valid work order with all specified approvals.
  • Attend shift handover to understand the events of the last 24 hours.
  • Lead the Maintenance Tier 1 (Maintenance shift handover). Validate the Shift Report (Downtime issues, Completed WO's, outstanding issues to hand over/follow up on).
  • Report out at Production Tier 2 meeting with fellow team leads with items pertaining to maintenance
  • Reviews all planned job packages for labor requirements, materials, parts, methods, permits, and priorities.
  • Distributes work orders and job plans directly to those assigned to perform the task. Assign a full day's work at the start of the shift.
  • Assign Mechanics to the jobs on the daily work schedule.
  • Works in partnership with the Planner/Schedulers to understand the backlog and priorities.
  • Spends at least 2/3 of the shift on the floor engaging with the
