  • Position Summary:


The CNC Gundrill Operator is responsible for drilling specified holes, to the correct diameter and position in the component, to assure the proper flow.


What You'll Do:

  • Determine machining requirements, dimensional specifications, and set up requirements from process sheets, blueprints and manual measuring;
  • Responsible for loading program(s), editing when required;
  • Selection of grade and cutting tool for proper operation of the Gundrill as per specifications;
  • Temporary plug and clamp drilled holes during operation to minimize oil leaks;
  • Tap all specified holes, deburr component plate, and grind profile as required;
  • Ensure effective production of quality parts by checking drawings or sketches, using gauges and other measuring equipment;
  • Observes and listens to machine operation in order to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools when possible;
  • Notify Team Leader when run times are incorrect or product will not meet time lines;
  • Ensure machining tasks are completed in accordance with specified run times;
  • Report discrepancies to the appropriate department;
  • Provide guidance and/or training for apprentices when required;
  • Conduct minor preventative maintenance procedures as scheduled;
  • Complete minor troubleshooting as required;
  • Make recommendations for productivity and/or method improvements;
  • Ensure ISO guidelines are followed; follow Job Instruction Sheets and Tag Procedures etc;

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one (1) year related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CNC Gundrill Operator is responsible for the safe set up and operation of the CNC Gundrill (s); responsible for maintaining an organized and clean work station; responsible for continuous improvement activity within their work station, department and the organization; responsible for minimizing waste and scrap. should be experienced in machining different types of metal; must be knowledgeable in utilizing the proper speed/feed to machine a quality component.
  • The CNC Gundrill Operator works under general supervision; the incumbent of this role must be capable of troubleshooting equipment, tools and processes; ability to perform calculations and set ups for the CNC Gundrill; ability to communicate to Team Leader or Lead Hand when machining times are not realistic and when deadlines will not be met.
  • Must have a School Diploma
