The Business Analyst, Data & Analytics, reports to the Provincial Lead, Quality and Evaluation and compiles confidential and sensitive information to inform strategic business planning by developing program-level business reports, analytical dashboards, executive-level presentations and briefing documents for multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Working in close collaboration with Stroke Services BC (SSBC) leadership and provincial partners, the role performs ongoing review and data analysis to generate comprehensive and valid reports from existing and emerging activities and services and initiatives to inform business planning of data and evaluation strategies related to quality improvement initiatives.

The Business Analyst contributes to patient safety and quality initiatives by providing data and metrics related to the strategic goals and performance metrics, with a goal of optimizing health outcomes and quality of care for patients of SSBC.


What you'll do

  • Develop and produce program evaluation performance metrics and tools to provide accurate and high quality analysis of key indicators, including outcomes, quality and safety, data standards, in ensuring continuous quality improvement for SSBC.
  • Develop confidential and sensitive reports to inform strategic business planning, programlevel business reports, analytical dashboards, executivelevel presentations and briefing documents for multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure internal, external and public reporting needs are met by gathering and negotiating reporting requirements from customers and stakeholders, communicating requirements to technical resources and following up with stakeholders regularly to develop and implement an examination process for the final reports.
  • Analyze operational problems and recommend innovative solutions by critically evaluating information gathered from multiple sources, reconciling conflicts, decomposing highlevel information into details, abstracting up from lowlevel information to a general understanding, distinguishing user requests from the underlying true needs, and driving and challenging business assumptions.
  • Work in collaboration with program leaders and provincial partners to monitor program plans, measure progress towards goals and objectives, and identify the key factors that account for any deviation from stated goals and objectives.
  • Identify issues with complex data, including data of confidential and/or sensitive nature, and take initiative in working out optimal solutions with appropriate stakeholders to improve accuracy, timelines, coordination and other data issues while demonstrating tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information.
  • Provide health planning, program development, and project management support for new initiatives and business cases.
  • Keep uptodate about new initiatives, developments, trends and best practice in evaluation and monitoring through literature reviews and contact with key stakeholders from other organizations. Communicate information and make recommendations to program leaders.

What you bring

  • A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in Business, Analytics, Health Informatics, Health Sciences, or related discipline plus a minimum of five (5) years of recent experience in complex data analysis, health evaluation, project/program management, preferably in a large, multisite health care environment.

You will also have:

  • Demonstrated ability to perform accurate advanced data manipulation, analysis, and information presentation using Microsoft Office suite, database and statistical software.
  • Knowledge and experience in project management, strategic planning and project implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to demonstrate tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature.
  • Demonstrated ability in preparing professional reports and presentation materials.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask without supervision.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act
