Job description


Community Support Workers (CSW) at Community Living Kincardine & District (CLKD) assist individuals with developmental disabilities in all aspects of their support plans, including assisting individuals to achieve their personal goals to engage and participate in community-based activities and programming.

Our staff have helped individuals settle into new homes, plant and harvest in our community gardens, participate in awareness events at local public schools, and join public speaking workshops that took them on the air to share their stories Our staff also support individuals to identify their personal interests and explore community-based opportunities that match those interests; like starting music lessons, participating in art classes, or learning how to ride a horse.

Individuals participate in community-based social, recreational, educational, and volunteering opportunities based on their personal goals, strengths, and abilities.

Responsibilities:


The Community Support Worker (CSW) is responsible for the implementation of a variety of supports and activities for people with developmental disabilities.

The CSW provides support to individuals in our Community Participation Supports & Services (CPSS) program to promote and maximize independence in community settings; as directed and in accordance with established Individual Support Plans.

The individuals are to be encouraged to participate to the degree that they are able in carrying out these tasks, but it is the staff's responsibility to ensure that it is completed in a healthy, safe and satisfactory manner.


Qualifications and Position Requirements:


  • Preference given to those who have a Developmental Service Worker Diploma (DSW) or comparable Social Services Diploma or Degree
  • Personal Support Worker (PSW) Diploma
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Must be flexible and available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Other requirements include: a clear criminal record check, valid G Driver's License, use of a reliable adequately insured vehicle, valid First Aid/CPR certificate (or obtained within first three months of hire)

Competitive Wages; entry level positions start at $23.25 per hour, plus $3.00 per hour permanent wage enhancement provided by the provincial government
