Salary Range; $61,394 to $82,391per annum CAD
Job Summary:
The Human Resources Advisor plays a key advisory and supportive role in the Human Resources department of the Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA).
Recruitment, On-boarding, Compensation and Benefits, Employee Relations, Employee Relations, Performance Management, HRIS, etc.
Qualifications:
- Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment).
- Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects in the Sioux Lookout Zone is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience related to First Nations and corporate governance including the First Nations political environment and background is an asset.
- Post-Secondary diploma/degree in Human Resources is an asset.
- CHRP designation is an asset.
- Experience and or knowledge in the field of Human Resources.
- Ability to work with all levels of staff (independently or part of a team) internally/externally and build relationship with stakeholders.
- Excellent client service skills with the ability to earn and retain client confidence.
- Proficient written and oral communication skills.
- Strong computer skills: Wordprocessing and knowledge of Microsoft Word.
- Knowledge of all provincial legislative standards and guidelines as they relate to the recruitment process (e.g. human rights, employment standards/guideline and laws etc.).
- Ability to complete the duties of the position on a regular basis.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide advice and support to employees and managers on HR policies and procedures.
- Assist in the recruitment and selection process, including job postings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and reference checks.
- Manage the onboarding process for new employees, including orientation and training.
- Assist with handling employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
- Assist with the development and implementation of HR initiatives and projects.
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Participate in HR meetings and provide input on HR strategies and practices.
- Ensure staff health benefits are completed properly: registration/enrolments, terminations and claims. Maintain and update employee records and benefits files throughout employment with spousal changes, dependents, beneficiaries etc. Answer questions regarding the company's benefit programs that are available.
