About the role
We are now recruiting for a Freight Specialist to join our global chartering team in Montreal. This is a
contractual role. This role will support both the
Chartering and Operations team (tentative split 50-50%) and collaborate closely with various commodity groups to
deliver safe, timely and efficient shipping services while navigating through a dynamic shipping market
Reporting to the Chartering/Operations Managers, you will be responsible for:
- Manage contract performance, vessel nominations, vetting requirements and timely upload of selected freight and cargo contracts into database
- Optimising commercial outcomes across seaborne supply chain in close collaboration with Business Units scheduling teams
- Ensure timely and accurate commercial freight information is reflected in the internal systems and regular (daily/weekly/monthly) reports in compliance with agreed procedures and protocols.
- Conducting routine and adhoc reporting and analysis (P&L, Desk activity, market, emissions, delays, owner/broker analysis, meeting recaps etc).
- Support Chartering/Operations Managers and the Desk Head in project management for the initiatives across all aspects of the Atlantic desk activities (regional and global freight markets, portfolio management, digital, decarbonisation, supply chain improvements, new business)
- Collaborate with Vetting team for continuous improvement of crew welfare, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards across the fleet
What you will need for this role
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Qualification, preferably in
Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Business/Economics: - Training or experience in commercial aspects of
shipping, commodity marketing/trading or
logistics (preferably dry bulk sector) - Ability to build and maintain excellent collaborative relationships with key
internal stakeholders and external suppliers: - Clear communication and presentation abilities, including
Power Point: - Data analytics skills using
Microsoft Excel, Power BI etc - Independent, driven, and curious to learn.
Salary:
From $50.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
