The Opportunity:

The Physician Clinical Administrative Assistant position is designed for International Medical Graduates or Internationally Trained Physicians.

It is ideal for the individual who is looking to gain knowledge in the Canadian healthcare system and is actively pursuing medical licensing in North America.

The Physician Clinical Administrative Assistant works under the supervision of a physician, who acts as a technician and assistant being the "eyes and ears" of the doctor in the exam room.


Compensation:

$17.05/hour


Location:

Windsor, Ontario


Availability:

Part-Time (Weekends - Saturday and Sunday)


What You'll Do:

Physician Clinical Administrative Assistants are fully trained on and responsible for the following:

  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Assist in performing triage, taking patient histories, and conducting limited physical examinations when needed.
  • Schedule patient appointments, tests, and procedures, optimizing the clinic's schedule and minimizing patient wait times.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialists and follow up on patient care plans.
  • Ensure consistent inventory levels through daily stocking of exam rooms.
  • Ensure a clean & quiet environment by cleaning/sanitizing exam rooms, common spaces, foyers, bathrooms.
  • Proper registration of the patient administratively (i.e. reception, scheduling, collecting payments, etc.)
  • Basic IT troubleshooting, as needed.
  • Accompany healthcare providers during patient visits and document patient encounters in realtime.
  • Document patient encounters, medical histories, and treatment plans accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Prepare and update patient charts, ensuring they are current and complete.
  • Assist with order entry, including prescriptions, referrals, and diagnostic tests as directed by the provider.
  • Assisting health care providers with medical procedures such as wound care, suture removal, and specimen collection.
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures and provide postoperative care instructions to patients.
  • Females: Perform Pap examination under supervision, specimen collection and documentation
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, managers, medical assistants, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care and clinic operations.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and other quality improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as required

What We're Looking For:


  • Completion of a medical degree.
  • Completion of MCCQE, USMLE, and/or NAC OSCE is considered an asset.
  • Previous residency interviews in the US or Canada is considered an asset.
  • Recent medical experience (within the last 5 years) is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills in English with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals (spoken, written, reading and comprehension); other languages are considered an asset.
  • Must be permanently eligible to work in Canada (i.e., Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen) or have a Work Permit valid beyond 12 months (no sponsorships).
  • Typing speed of 40WPM for data entry.
  • Committed, reliable, and flexible regarding scheduling of shifts (i.e., days, evenings, and weekends).
  • Flexibility regarding working at multiple clinic/office locations in the city.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
