    Description

    Electrical Design Specialist

    The primary role of an Electrical Design Specialist is to develop and implement electrical systems and solutions across various projects. This position involves collaborating closely with engineers and project managers to create detailed electrical design drawings and specifications that meet the specific needs and standards of each project.


    This specialist plays a crucial part in the development lifecycle, from conceptualization to implementation, ensuring all phases are completed effectively. Their duties include:



    • Contributing to project planning, including concept development, design creation, build preparation, installation setup, service delivery.

    • Producing shop drawings using specialized software like AutoCAD Electrical. This includes modifying existing designs to reflect changes.

    • Determining component requirements and creating bills of materials for procurement purposes.

    • '​​Project management: assisting quality control staff in preparing test plans/procedures; making decisions on risk/cost/schedule based on available data.'


    The ideal candidate will have:
     
    • Relevant post-secondary education (preferably in Electrical Engineering); Professional Engineer certification (P.Eng.) is considered an asset
       iFive years' experience minimum – ideally working with PLCs/HMI/VFD platforms;
      “Previous involvement with Canadian/National Electrical Code as well as other relevant industry standards such as ISO 13849 or CSA Z432., Preferences consideration
