  • Time Supervisor of IT_**The Supervisor of IT Services is responsible for the effective operation of information technology (IT) services and support across the organization. This position oversees IT project management, administering the Town's information technology infrastructure and resources, and supervision of IT staff. This position will work closely with the Manager of IT to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support costeffective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. This position will also define and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices.


Additional responsibilities include responding to inquiries/complaints from the front-line users, assisting with budget recommendations, attending Council and Committee meetings as needed, and ensuring compliance with all pertinent regulations and standards.


Responsibilities:


  • Act as project manager on corporate projects; define the project goal and scope in collaboration with applicable client department staff, create work plans, determine resources and milestones, and ensure appropriate communication to all stakeholders on the progress of the project.
  • Collaborate with client departments to identify potential solutions that are innovative, comprehensive, and integrated to modernize service delivery capabilities and are in alignment with the overarching Town's IT Digital Strategy.
  • Provide a lead technical role in upgrades and support of existing enterprise systems.
  • Supervise Information Technology staff, including the development and implementation of annual work plans and performance appraisals.
  • Support technology/communication/GIS systems to ensure the systems are available to users.
  • Participate in the design of IT infrastructure.
  • Develop and support the creation of Request for Proposals (RFP) and Business Cases.
  • Communicate and mitigate risks to any changes to systems.
  • Ensure inquiries, requests, and complaints from staff and Town Council are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and coordinate staff training for information technology.
  • Develop and implement information technology asset management plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations, standards, and Town policies related to information technology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, following corporate objectives.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a university degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Science, Software Engineering, or other related fields.
  • Experience in design, administration, management, and configuration of network and server infrastructure within a multidomain setting and computer security.
  • Proven project management skills, including the ability to manage technology projects from start to finish, with strict attention to detail. Formal project management training or equivalent (e.g., Project Management certificate), an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and timelines with strong organizational skills and the capacity to multitask in a fastpaced environment, responding with flexibility to changing priorities. Possess superior oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Indepth knowledge of Windows desktop and server operating systems, client/server software and hardware, virtual operating environments, and network infrastructure technologies.
  • Must have advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, financial information systems, and database software. Working with APIs is a plus.
  • Must have experience with developing and implementing operational recommendations and requirements.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently supervise staff in an unionized environment.
  • Demonstrate tact and discretion in handling matters of a confidential or politically sensitive nature and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts as required, including days and evenings.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player who can establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, developers, external agencies, and the general public.
  • Ability to provide a valid class G Ontario driver's license with an appropriate drivers' abstract and clean criminal reference record upon hire.

Working Conditions


The standard work week is 40 hours, with some additional hours required to attend evening meetings, meet deadlines, to address security breaches, and to minimize disruption during normal business hours.

Support of Council or Committee meetings may also be required.


Wage Rate
$75,109 - $93, 886 (Salary Band 5)
