About the Role:


As a Payroll Specialist at Regional Group, you'll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring that our team members are paid accurately and on time.

Your mission? To masterfully manage payroll for not just Regional Group, but also for eQ Homes, RPSI, and Cliffbrake through Newstar.

Key Responsibilities:


Payroll Processing:

  • Manage endtoend payroll activities for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Calculate and process wage garnishments, deductions, and withholdings accurately and promptly.
  • Prepare statutory forms such as Records of Employment and income tax forms (e.g., T4, T2200).
  • Conduct internal audits of payroll accounts and prepare materials for external auditors.

Data Management:

  • Maintain precise and uptodate employee records in the payroll system.
  • Update and validate employee information, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status.

Compliance:

  • Stay informed about changes in payroll regulations and ensure adherence to provincial and federal regulations.

Benefits Administration:

  • Support the administration of employee benefits related to payroll, such as health insurance and retirement plans.

Reporting:

  • Generate and analyze payroll reports for management and other departments.
  • Prepare and submit relevant payrollrelated documentation and reports.

Problem Resolution:

  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and errors in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Address and respond to employee payroll inquiries promptly and effectively.

Auditing:

  • Conduct regular audits of payroll data to maintain accuracy and integrity.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors as necessary.

Communication:

  • Effectively communicate with employees, HR, and finance departments regarding payrollrelated matters.

About You:


  • Postsecondary education or equivalent professional training and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in payroll management for both salaried and hourly employees.
  • Possession of a recognized payroll Professional Designation.
  • Previous experience with Ceridian, SAP, or Newstar is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of CRA guidelines and payroll legislation.
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of payroll legislation and practices to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Address complex payroll issues with adeptness, utilizing critical thinking and problemsolving skills.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive payroll information.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders to foster positive relationships and teamwork.
  • Seamlessly manage multiple tasks with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Build trust and rapport with individuals at all levels, enhancing teamwork.
  • Handle sensitive matters with discretion and tact, preserving professionalism.
  • Positive Police Check required.
