Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Manager F & B this position is responsible for serving the guests beverages with the strictest regard to rules, regulations and operational guidelines while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees.
This position may serve in a restaurant, buffet operation, on a casino floor, in a bar, at a banquet, in a theatre, in in-room dining or other areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greets guests by name wherever possible.
- Informs guests of any daily specials
- Explains how various beverages are prepared if applicable.
- Takes the guests' orders and makes recommendations
- Prepares beverages if applicable.
- Serves the guests and checks to ensure satisfaction.
- Resolves guests issues or asks management for assistance.
- Presents bill upon request and takes payment in the absence of a cashier.
- Cleans tables or counters, removes glasses and restocks where applicable.
- Delivers beverages to hotel rooms as directed where applicable and obtains signature and
- Performs opening or closing duties as required.
- Counts cash float at end of shift if applicable.
- Covers other bartenders' sections when required.
- Exercises good judgment when serving alcoholic beverages according to Smart Serve
- Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments
- Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders (guests,
- Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Education and Qualification Requirements:
- High School Diploma or a minimum of one (1) year related work experience.
- Smart Serve certified.
- Ability to multitask and excel in a fastpaced environment.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to perform tasks effectively and safely within prescribed time limits.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with fellow employees and management as part of a team.
- Ability to successfully pass criminal record check.
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset but not required.
Work Environment Considerations
- Fast paced with multiple priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
- This role requires a flexible schedule that adapts to the business needs of a 24hour operation; will have nontraditional work hours including evening and weekend shifts.
