Position Summary


Under the direct supervision of the Manager F & B this position is responsible for serving the guests beverages with the strictest regard to rules, regulations and operational guidelines while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees.

Ensures adherence to all policies and procedures.

This position may serve in a restaurant, buffet operation, on a casino floor, in a bar, at a banquet, in a theatre, in in-room dining or other areas.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Greets guests by name wherever possible.
  • Informs guests of any daily specials
  • Explains how various beverages are prepared if applicable.
  • Takes the guests' orders and makes recommendations
  • Prepares beverages if applicable.
  • Serves the guests and checks to ensure satisfaction.
  • Resolves guests issues or asks management for assistance.
  • Presents bill upon request and takes payment in the absence of a cashier.
  • Cleans tables or counters, removes glasses and restocks where applicable.
  • Delivers beverages to hotel rooms as directed where applicable and obtains signature and
- removes used trays

  • Performs opening or closing duties as required.
  • Counts cash float at end of shift if applicable.
  • Covers other bartenders' sections when required.
  • Exercises good judgment when serving alcoholic beverages according to Smart Serve
  • Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders (guests,
- ownership and employees)

  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

Education and Qualification Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or a minimum of one (1) year related work experience.
  • Smart Serve certified.
  • Ability to multitask and excel in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform tasks effectively and safely within prescribed time limits.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with fellow employees and management as part of a team.
  • Ability to successfully pass criminal record check.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset but not required.

Work Environment Considerations

  • Fast paced with multiple priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
  • This role requires a flexible schedule that adapts to the business needs of a 24hour operation; will have nontraditional work hours including evening and weekend shifts.
