Litigation Law Clerk (Ottawa)

Soloway Wright LLP is currently looking for a
Litigation Clerk with 1 to 3 years of experience to work out of our Ottawa office, providing support to lawyers in both our Kingston and Ottawa offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing support to multiple Lawyers and/or Partners.
- Conduct file review and analysis.
- Preparation and drafting of correspondence.
- Drafting of pleadings.
- Drafting of settlement proposals.
- Coordinate examinations for discovery, mediations, and drafting and prepare all necessary material (i.e. Affidavits of Documents and Mediation Briefs, etc.).
- Drafting of Pre-Trial Briefs.
- Scheduling of appointments.
- Organize and request productions.
- Maintain contact with clients and liaise with lawyers.
- Meeting with clients.
- Completing other duties as assigned.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- College Diploma years); and 1 to 3 years of general litigation experience.
- A good understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure and experience in defence and plaintiff work.
- Wellversed in all aspects of the litigation process.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Experience using Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- High level of professionalism and initiative.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Experience with Construction litigation would be an asset.
