Your Opportunity:


The Edmonton Operational Stress Injury Clinic (EOSIC) is part of a national network of clinics responsible for providing specialized mental health assessment and treatment to individuals and their families referred by Veterans Affairs Canada, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Department of National Defense.

Individuals referred to the clinic are experiencing work related psychological stress and/or trauma, (e.g., PTSD, depression, anxiety, addiction).

Services at the EOSIC are provided by an interdisciplinary team consisting of Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Clinical Social Work.

Reporting to the Care Manager, the Psychologist, will be responsible for providing advanced interventions in the areas of assessment, diagnosis and treatment to individuals, couples, and families with complex psychological disorders related to Operational Stress Injuries (OSIs).

The Psychologist I, in collaboration with the clinical team, ensures that services are safe, are of high quality, and align with the national OSI clinic guidelines, and AHS standards.

The program adheres to the Edmonton Zone Addiction & Mental Health Principles of Care including a focus on client centered care, collaboration between the care team and client, care that is trauma informed, concurrent addiction and mental health capable and recovery oriented.

The successful incumbent will be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge and counseling skills in a variety of evidence-based psychotherapies and possess an ability to develop and maintain collaborative care environments with community care providers.


Description:

As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment


Your services may include:
psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as education activities.

You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practice and ethical and professional standards.

You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consults/collaborates with teams and community services.

Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.

Required Qualifications:


Completion of master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program.

Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).


Additional Required Qualifications:

Training and experience in providing specialized trauma therapies such as EMDR, DBT, CPT, PE. Training and experience in providing group therapy. Minimum of 3 years of relevant mental health experience. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSF) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers. Employer provided Suicide Risk Management, and Prevention of Harassment and Violence (PoHV) or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.


Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience with substance use disorders and/or process addictions preferred.
