Domtar Inc., Specialty Papers Division, Espanola Operations is currently seeking a
Purchasing Manager to join our team.


Located in Espanola Ontario, Espanola is a four-season outdoor paradise providing the amenities of an urban center while opening the gateway to outdoor adventure in North-eastern Ontario.


As an integrated mill, Espanola operates one pulp machine for making specialty hardwood and softwood pulps, and two paper machines that produce more than 300 different types of paper.

Role:

We are seeking an engaged individual who is looking for an opportunity to build, contribute and advance our organization.**
Purpose:The Purchasing Manager provides management and active involvement in the Purchasing and Storeroom operations at Domtar's Espanola mill in Espanola, ON.

This position will be the site focal for the purchasing group and the storeroom, and will be accountable for strategic sourcing, supplier, vendor selection and administration for programs governing the purchasing/storeroom function for the Espanola Mill and will assure adherence to all policies, corporate and local strategies, and managed spend priorities.

This position will also have the responsibility for supervision of the purchasing/storeroom staff.


Responsibilities:


  • Act as the liaison to mill leadership and be the primary point of contact with Domtar's Central Purchasing Group.
  • Manage and process site business transactions (i.e. day to day buying).
  • Coordinate mill procurement priorities/impacts, delivery volumes and administer required corporate and local contracts at the mill.
  • Provide capital procurement support as necessary.
  • Develop budget forecasts for commodities.
  • Add value and contribute to profitability on a continual basis.
  • Maintaining, controlling, optimizing and reducing as necessary inventory levels.
  • This position and group will be responsible for supporting the objectives of the different departments at the Espanola Mill to assist them in meeting their efficiency efforts and needs.

Organizational Responsibility:

This position reports to the Controller of the Specialty Business Division and manages others in the department.

This position must also maintain a strong dotted line relationship with the corporate purchasing group and purchasing people at other Domtar locations, as well as, a close relationship with other department managers, company leaders, and the financial organization.

This role is also the primary interface point for local key suppliers.


Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
  • 5+ years of experience in a purchasing and supervisory role.
  • Certified Professional Purchaser designation or registration in the educational program of The Supply Chain Management Association of Canada.
  • Knowledge and operational understanding of Pulp and Paper manufacturing processes, equipment and general business environment would be preferred.
  • Knowledge of SAP procurement would be preferred.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities:


  • Demonstrated understanding of integrated supply chain and logistics concepts and theories.
  • Considerable knowledge of laws, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to corporate purchasing practices.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively, and obtain credibility using best practices, with all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive experience drafting wellstructured vendor agreements, reports, correspondence, contracts, requests, bids, and other documentation.
  • Knowledge of the appropriate tools for grading, analyzing, and assessing materials, equipment, supplies, services, and other commodities.
  • Exceptional forecasting ability with strong analytical and interpretive skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of local and global markets for the industry and international purchasing.
  • A welldefined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Ability to lead in a team environment.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.
