Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture is seeking an organized and reliable individual for our Lounge Team Leader position.

Under the direction of the Lounge Supervisor this position is responsible for ensuring the safe and smooth operation of the Sportsview Lounge and its Hosts.

Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture offers an additional 14% in pay per hour in lieu of benefits for auxiliary employees, a staff facility pass that provides access to our weightroom, pool, skating rink, and drop-in fitness classes (granted with a regularly scheduled weekly shift).

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Acts as a point of contact for food and beverage sales.
  • Assists in training, scheduling and supervising auxiliary lounge host staff.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and tidiness of the public area at all times, clearing tables, removing and washing dishes, wiping tabletops and other surfaces and restocking food and beverage display areas as needed.
  • Assists customers in a warm and friendly manner, addressing patron questions and/or concerns.
  • Handles money and payments for services in an efficient and businesslike manner.
  • Operates a POS station and all other equipment associated with food facilities.
  • Adheres to all safety standards and regulations for the benefit of patrons.
  • Maintains records pertaining to bar stock and assists with ordering and inventory.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous bartending experience.
  • Previous experience in a restaurant or similar food service facility.
  • POS experience.


  • Food Safe Level

  • Serving It Right Certification
  • Provision of a current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (Note: This is the applicants financial responsibility to obtain this).

HOURS OF WORK Monday-Sunday, various hours between 7:00am-10:00pm; up to 25 hours per week as required.

LOCATION(S) Oak Bay Recreation Centre


RATE $21.98 ($19.28 per hour plus $2.70 per hour in lieu of benefits rates)


STATUS Auxiliary (This is a union position)


BENEFITS

  • 14% in lieu of benefits per hour
  • Staff Membership to dropin the weightroom, fitness classes, skating, and pool (applicable to employees with 1 or more set shifts per week)
  • The District has previously enacted a mandatory COVID19 vaccination policy to safeguard the wellbeing of all employees. This policy may be reinstated based on the level of assessed risk to District employees or Provincial Health Order requirements._
