General Duties:

Provide leadership and guidance regarding HSE (Health, Safety & Environmental) Program, mentoring and coaching to site personnel, which includes, but is not limited to field personnel, project managers and superintendents.

In addition, inspect working conditions in office and construction settings to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations. Manage site documentation and PPE to maintain compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements. Reports to the HSE Manager.


Specific duties:

• Ability to train and coach field associates to understand compliance requirements and regular compliance obligations for their location(s)
• Maintaining site safety documentation in accordance with the corporate HSE manual/COR program.
• Present, support and leadbyexample with a safety and quality orientated attitude
• Support field managers in finding safe solutions to work challenges
• Conduct Site Orientations use of video, PowerPoint and other methods
• Interact and support Client's safety management personnel
• Lead the site Substance Abuse Prevention Program (preemployment and post incident)
• Revision of JHAs and SWPs for ongoing site work as applicable
• Conduct Field Inspections complete with electronic documentation
• Lead Incident Investigations on site
• Investigation, corrective actions, reporting (with support of supervisors and Corporate HSE Manager)
• Monitor sitewide permit and compliance obligations
• Participate/assist OH&S Site Safety Committee
• Prepare and document weekly meeting topics specific to current work
• Responsible for all applicable site/project HSE related documentation
• Create an environment in which employees are looking to the HSE Department for assistance, guidance and solutions

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Experience working in a construction environment with a multidiscipline industrial contractor.
• Knowledge of NL Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
• Experience with participating in audits and COR safety.
• Excellent oral and written communications, including speaking/presenting before large audiences, experience in the use of Microsoft Word Office
• A valid driver's license is required

Qualifications:

• 3 years' experience implementing HSE programs in the construction industry.
• Health and Safety college or university program graduate or equivalent
• Possesses recognized safety certifications/designations (ex. NCSO, Certified Safety Professional)
