Reporting to the Manager, Tailings, the Tailings Engineer is responsible for being a technical resource for tailings operations and management of the site portfolio of Tailings and Water Retaining Structures (TWRS). This role will be a combination of work in the office and on site. This role supports the tailings team with a focus on monitoring and managing TWRS structures and data, supporting operational leadership, and working collaboratively with various mine operational teams on field activities related to TWRS systems.

Responsibilities:

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Help implement and manage the operations, maintenance and surveillance system (OMS) for TSFs and Dams
• Help implement TSF and Dam best practice and regulatory requirements (e.g. HSRC, HSEC standards, GISTM).
• Assist in developing and maintaining short-and long-range plans for tailings and water management facilities, including mass balances, tailings deposition plans and water balances
• Support projects execution on site
• Coordinate activities with Consultants, Project Engineering, Processing, Environmental, necessary Teck corporate entities, contractors, and Government Regulators as required

Qualifications:

• Degree in Civil, Mining, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering, or equivalent
• Three years of operational, construction, water or tailings management or design work experience in the mining industry
• Registered, or able to register, as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia
• Understanding of geotechnical investigation and analyses, soil mechanics, surface and subsurface monitoring systems, and TWRS design principles would be an asset

Salary Range: $103,000 - $127,000

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.
