OVERVIEW

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or higher education related to environmental sciences, biology or other related discipline.
  • Currently possesses a professional designation (or in training designation) applicable for conducting professional sign off in British Columbia.
  • Minimum 4 to 7 years of environmental work experience with experience in:
  • Phase I and Phase II program execution
  • Remediation
  • Reclamation
  • Groundwater monitoring
  • Spill response
  • Detailed Site Assessments
  • Vegetation management/reclamation site inspections
  • Preparing reclamation closure reports for submission in British Columbia
  • Project management experience is an asset cost estimates, scheduling, budget tracking client interactions and communications.
  • Experience in executing upstream environmental assessment, remediation, and reclamation projects.
  • Willingness to work in the field for extended periods of time; willingness to travel within Western Canada as required
  • Excellent communication and technical reporting skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of contaminated sites and reclamation regulations in British Columbia
  • Hydrogeology background a strong asset
  • Experience with developing assessment, remediation or reclamation cost estimates is an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Spend up to 80% of work hours performing technical field activities on environmental projects.
  • Environmental Assessments (Phase I and II)
  • Remediation
  • Reclamation
  • Spill response
  • Groundwater monitoring
  • Detailed Site Assessments
  • Vegetation management/reclamation site inspections
  • Regulatory submissions
  • Responsible for project coordination, cost control and project scoping to ensure effectively versatile solutions are developed to meet client's regulatory needs and budgets;
  • Responsible for both field and office execution of environmental projects with an emphasis on field work
  • Active stewardship of Vertex and client safety programs is expected.
  • Responsible to build relationships within Vertex, with regulators and clients to effectively develop and manage projects within the environmental business unit.
  • Mentor and coach junior environmental staff

  • This position will be based out of Vancouver, BC
